Taimen Lower River

Also at the Taimen Lower River Program, we work with the same internationally recognized company to offer you an unforgettable Taimen adventure. The differences between the two sections are that the lower section is much more isolated and there are no roads anymore

FISHING FOR TAIMEN IN MONGOLIA

The season

The season at the Taimen Lower River Program is very short. Fishing starts in September and ends in October.

EXPERIENCE BREATHTAKING FISHING IN AN UNTOUCHED NATURE

A big river with huge taimen

You fish 7 days from the boat and one day from the bank. Every morning the camp is dismantled, your things are loaded onto the boats and reassembled in the next camp.

THE ACCOMMODATION

You can’t get any closer to the fish

Everything you need, whether clothing, tent or kitchen, has to be brought to the next camp by boat. So everything is a little bit simpler here. The tents are smaller, maybe the food is a bit simpler, but the reward is a completely untouched wilderness that can hardly be reached by car.

YOU WILL FISH A DIFFERENT SECTION OF THE RIVER EVERY DAY

You will float day by day a different section of the river. The areas you will fish have been unfished for at least one week and this will increase your chance of catching one of the huge Taimen.

Fly Fishing for Taimen

Details

Here we are also working with the same internationally recognized company to offer you an unforgettable Taimen adventure. The differences between the two sections are that you are much more isolated in the lower section of the river and there are no more roads. Everything you need, whether clothing, tent or kitchen, has to be brought to the next camp by boat. So everything is a little bit simpler here. The tents are smaller, maybe the food is a bit simpler, but the reward is a completely untouched wilderness that can hardly be reached by car. But it is precisely these “difficulties” that make this trip a very special experience, because here the fish do not know any fishing pressure!

You fish 7 days from the boat and one day from the bank. Every morning the camp is dismantled, your things are loaded onto the boats and reassembled in the next camp. While you are drifting down the river fishing all day long, fishing for new, unfished water, the camp will be set up in the new location and dinner will be prepared for you so that everything is ready when you arrive at the new camp after a long day on the water. All guides speak English and know the water like the back of their hand.

It also makes sense to combine the two trips (upper and lower river). So in the first week you would fly from Ulaanbaatar to the remote upper reaches of the river by plane, and then drift down the river for 6 days. On the last day, when everyone else is flying home, simply fish the lower section of the river with the next group for another 8 days. In this way, both trips can be perfectly combined and you can fish a new section of the river every day for 14 days without ever having to fish an area twice!
