The countdown is on: only 90 days until the season starts at Gaula – new early season video!

Once February comes to an end, the time until the season opens on June 1st on the Gaula River always seems to fly by. And yet, like most “two-handed migratory birds” who travel to Norway from all over the world in pursuit of salmon, we can hardly wait.

To make the wait a little more enjoyable, we’ll soon be uploading a series of new short films to YouTube. If you don’t want to miss them, be sure to subscribe to our channel and have a look at some of our films:  https://youtube.com/@manfredraguse?si=2OOqOP2Czqz3jiKj

The start of the season – and those magical early days – offer a unique opportunity to catch one of the large, pristine, early-running silver bars. So we begin with a short film looking back at the opening of the 2024 season. This video allows you to relive what happened on opening night at the legendary Bridge Pool of the International Flyfishers Club – one of the most famous Atlantic salmon pools in Norway.

Just over an hour after the season officially began – still in darkness – the first salmon of 2024 was landed. A thrilling start that perfectly demonstrates why the Gaula is regarded as one of Europe’s finest salmon rivers.

The film features epic battles as several large salmon, weighing between 9 kg (20 lbs) and 17.2 kg (38 lbs), are brought to the net on two-handed fly rods. The renowned composer Terry Oldfield also makes a special appearance, speaking with host Manfred Raguse about the irresistible fascination of watching fresh salmon enter the Bridge Pool as they migrate upstream. Now they are likely to take the fly any time…

And viewers don’t have to experience these magical Scandinavian salmon nights only on screen – they can live them for themselves. A limited number of rods are still available.

Last season, the Gaula River once again ranked as Norway’s top river for the number of large salmon (over 7 kg / 15½ lbs) caught. If you are aiming to land one of these magnificent, silver fish, the Gaula deserves a place at the very top of your shortlist. For surprisingly moderate prices, you can enjoy an exclusive salmon fishing experience of a quality rarely found anywhere else in the world.

We offer fly fishing on the superb rotation stretches of the Norwegian Flyfishers Club (NFC), the Bridge Pool Beat of the International Flyfishers Club (IFC) on the middle Gaula, and additional beats on the upper river. New: IFC Salmon courses.
