After the bad news of the past two years, there has finally been good news since February – Norway has lifted all entry restrictions and there is nothing standing in the way of a trip to the Gaula. Whether you are vaccinated, recovered, or not, you can enter Norway without a test, registration or vaccination certificate. Wearing a mask is also no longer necessary. Nothing is in the way of your summer holiday in Norway!

At the moment there is still a lot of snow in the Gaula catchment area and, after a few attempts, spring is still a long time coming. In the past few days, the Gaula has risen up to 175 m³/second at the Gaulfossen, but the air temperature is already dropping again and the long-term weather forecast does not indicate that the snow at higher altitudes will really begin to melt in the next few days.

This speaks for a high water level at the beginning of the season and, from today’s perspective, for good water levels later in the season. The signs look positive! Even if we should expect a high water level at the start of the season, you are in excellent hands on the NFC Beats. The Beats on the Lower Gaula allow you to successfully fish for salmon even when the fish cannot yet pass the Gaulfossen. In this situation, fishing on the Lower Gaula is particularly promising.

From today’s perspective, the large amounts of snow can contribute to the fact that we probably do not have to deal with a low water situation for quite a long time. This could have a very positive effect on the two peak weeks in the second half of July (weeks 29 and 30). Also the cheap fishing later in August (fishing incl. accommodation in the country house per week, per rod NOK 14,500 / approx. 1,420 euros) can become particularly interesting this year. At this time you are fishing the same exclusive Beats, with only two rods per Beat, but for around half the price of the prime time. It is therefore a first-class opportunity to get to know the exclusive rotation fishery under weather conditions that are above average, from today’s perspective, at a significantly lower price.

If you haven’t been sure yet whether you want or can fish the Gaula this year, then now is the right moment to secure one of the remaining free rods. Prime time is almost fully booked, but there are still a few rods available both at the start of the season and later in July/August.
