There are only a few days left until the start of the season on 1 June at the Gaula. We can hardly wait. The weather conditions make an early start likely. The water level is no longer at a very high level for this time of the year (15 May down to 128m³/sec, on 21 May it was 180m³/sec at Gaulfossen) with a water temperature between 7°C and 7.9m³/sec. This means that the conditions are very good for an early run into the middle reaches of the Gaula from the start of the season. We also had a very good start last year. Thomas Junker was able to land the first fresh salmon with a length of 95cm and a weight of approx. 9.0kg at the Bridge Pool just over an hour after the start of the season!

Manfred Raguse also caught a very nice fish of 103cm and a weight of approx. 11.6kg on 1 June. But also the biggest salmon of the last season at the Gaula was caught at our Bridge Pool, please have a look at a short film if you have not seen it yet: https://youtu.be/JvFJ1BDTwgI
The first large and even medium-sized salmon have been caught in the research nets in the outer Trondheim Fjord. We still have a few rods available at Bridge Pool Beat. There are still two rods free for the first week of the season and 3 rods free for the second week.
ATTENTION NEW: The IFC has newly leased an interesting 1.1 km stretch on the upper Gaula. This stretch, which lies just below the waterfalls to which the salmon can ascend, is a stretch of water where many salmon gather during the season. Therefore, our “Sanctuary Beat” will serve as a protected area in the future, where only fly fishing and catch & release is allowed. Please see below some photos of the “Sanctuary Beat”.
